Digital Asset Management (DAM)
What is Digital Asset Management?
Content creators, editors, editorial staff, marketing or social media managers and many others who work with content often spend a lot of time finding the "right" asset. These include texts, images, videos, but also documents, forms, fact sheets, translations into different languages, metadata and much more. Sometimes they are scattered across different systems (e.g. ERP, PIM, CRM, CMS, DMS, etc.), which makes searching and finding information time-consuming. Digital Asset Management (DAM for short) is the process of managing, organising and distributing digital assets with a central tool (e.g. a content hub). The main goal of DAM is to help organisations create, edit and manage content centrally throughout the content lifecycle.
What does Digital Asset Management offer?
Centralised DAM systems are quick to deploy and easy to use. Such a solution provides colleagues, employees, clients, contractors and other key stakeholders with controlled access to the entire library of digital content. For example, a DAM contains photos, creative files, videos, audio files, presentations, documents and other forms of content. Digital asset management software helps to create, archive, manage, reuse and even edit digital content. It does this by assigning metadata (a unique description of each asset) that makes it easier to find, filter and manage assets across an organisation's ecosystem.
Digital asset management with InterRed
InterRed offers many advantages as a central ContentHub. These include media-neutral data storage for publishing content in all channels (online, social, app, print, e-paper, etc.), the integrated media database, workflow management, integrated campaign, event and topic planning or even the integrated archive. All these and many more functions are used to use the system for database-supported content control. Content is thus centrally managed, organised and categorised, can be archived, found more quickly and made available for every use case.
Assets of all kinds, be they texts, images, videos, audio files, documents, etc., including metadata, can thus be organised and managed. At the same time, the advantages of the underlying technology are fully utilised: the browser-based operation enables flexible access, the integrated versioning ensures that the life cycle of a piece of content is traceable and the integrated media database manages all media content, with extensive search functions, rights and exploitation management as well as automated remuneration and proof of use. This also includes integrated image editing and video editing.
