Bauverlag is perfecting its media production with the multi-channel publishing solution from InterRed. Already in use for the creation of numerous print editions, websites and a native app, InterRed is now creating web e-papers for 17 magazines – fully automated and without additional effort.

E-paper with added value at no extra effort
With around 120 employees at sites in Gütersloh, Berlin and Munich, Bauverlag is considered the largest provider of specialist information for architecture and construction in the German-speaking world. Well-known titles include the magazine ‘Bauwelt’, ‘DBZ Deutsche Bauzeitschrift’ and ‘BundesBauBlatt’.
The web e-papers created with InterRed are generated fully automatically from the print edition created with InterRed. Once in the final workflow stage, both the synchronisation of the content and the publication with a predefined publication date take place automatically. The typical appearance of the print magazine is retained. At the same time, the e-paper editions offer readers added value compared to the print magazines.
The responsive HTML5 design enables the content to be optimised for the respective end device. Various viewing options allow different zoom levels and font sizes. In the integrated reading mode, individual articles can be displayed in a separate web view, while at the same time it is possible to enrich them with additional content such as picture galleries and videos. The solution used also supports multilingualism. As a result, some of the magazines can be accessed and switched between German and English e-papers.
Multi-channel publishing at the highest level
The joint project between InterRed GmbH and Bauverlag BV GmbH clearly demonstrates the advantages of the flexible expandability of a modern publishing solution. New output channels can be connected at any time without the need for further third-party solutions. This means that users of a central content hub are future-proof and prepared for upcoming challenges.
Christian Wesselmann, Director of User Experience, Subscription & Data at Bauverlag, is convinced of the benefits of the InterRed solution: ‘The fact that we can now offer our high-quality trade magazines in digital form as e-papers at no additional cost is an enormous advantage. In line with this trend, our publishing solution InterRed makes it possible to offer additional output channels at any time, but also to create, manage and publish further titles or special editions.’
