Quark connects traditional publishing for print-media with tools for the production of collaborative, cross-media work-flows and the provision of web-based or data-determined communication.

Quark was founded in 1981 in Denver, Colorado. Named after the sub-atomic particle that is the basic building block of all matter, the company wanted to produce a basic software for the entire publishing.
QuarkXPress® directly hit the headlines with its appearance in the year 1987. The Desktop Publishing was in its infancy and nearly all publications were produced mechanically.
In 1988 Quark did start its international activities by establishing businesses in Europe and Asia. Today, representatives for service, support and development are located in Germany, France, Great Britain, India, Japan, Switzerland and in the United States.
Quark asserts its industry-wide leading position with its product line.
