InterRed 10 with an innovative user interface concept

Beside the already announced innovations, as image- and video editing, Web 2.0-functionalities and the integration of XPress® 7 and the Creative Suite® 3, InterRed, for the first time, presents its new Graphical User Interface (GUI) on the CeBIT 08. Thereby, the integration of the newest technologies into InterRed 10 is also visible directly on the user interface. InterRed did not only concentrate on a new design, but instead has developed a new concept for the entire user interaction, that, beside being state-of-the-art, also sets new standards in the area of Content Management.

GUI with memory

In the new main menu of InterRed 10 not only the rights and functions that have been assigned to a user are available, but furthermore the user can personalize the conception and design of the user interface. Thereby, the user is able to determine which windows are displayed in the main menu and in what way they are arranged. These user-specific configurations, of these so-called widgets, can be saved and optionally be loaded for a session.

Integration of widgets

Beside using widgets with InterRed-system-functionality, it is possible for the user to incorporate a range of external help tools. In doing so, the editor is for example able to have a look at the current status of his news feeds, at weather information or at his virtual notepads at any time, without having to leave his familiar working environment, the InterRed input mask. This functionality does thereby support the user-specific system access, as well as the individual access to information, ensuring the wide acceptance of the „work environment InterRed” by editorial departments.

InterRed 10 GUI: a technological milestone

Also regarding the backend part, InterRed makes use of a key technology of the web, AJAX. From the version 10 onwards the editors work with a quickly reacting user interface, enabling the same intuitive interactivity as a desktop application, without disturbing renewed page reproductions. Furthermore, the new user interface is designed in an even more ergonomic way. For example, the drop-down menu bar at the bottom of the respective working sections and the drop-down, context-dependent functions-bar enable a fast access to all functions, with an increased clarity and usability.
The advantages of an only browser-based user-interface, like universal applicability, without geographic restrictions and without the requirement of an installation at the client work station, are of course maintained.
